If you like curvey mountain roads, visiting places you've likely never heard of, sitting in hot springs, warm water rivers, and water falls, then we have the trip for you. This trip kicks off at one of the world's monumental pyramid sites, Teotihucan, at dinner and we will introduce you to your bikes for the week. This Ride takes us up into Queretaro, Hidalgo, and San Luis Potosí States via a road I call the Serpent's Tail in honor of the the pyramid and how it is featured in Mexican History. It's a spectacular mountain ride that includes one of my personal favorite places, Grutas Tolantango, a hot springs cave flowing into a sky blue river and a mountain side waterfall you can walk through. If you love The Tail of the Dragon, the Rockies, or the Sierras in the US, you’ll love this ride. We can't wait for you to come with us.
If You Need To Cancel
Mexico by Moto understands that plans change and circumstances don’t always work out for you to take a vacation when you wish, especially when we’re planning months or even a year into the future. We’re also a very lean company that works with smaller family owned hotels, and vendors in Mexico, as such when we put rooms, equipment, or other services on hold and then cancel with them, we often need to pay them, especially if it's very close to the date of travel. Saying all this, we have worked out with them what is fair, and what would be the optimal time to provide you with a 100% refund. We appreciate your understanding.
For our tours that run January through April.
If you cancel before December 1st, we refund 100% minus the $500 initial deposit we ask for.
If you cancel after December 1st, but more than 30 days before you travel it will cost 50% of the total price for your trip.
If you cancel within 30 days of your tour date you will not receive a refund.
All cancellation requests must be in writing via email to info@mexicobymoto.com
If Mexico by Moto Needs to Cancel
Planning for the future includes thinking about weather patterns, and other things that fall into the category of force majeure. We cannot predict if hurricanes, earthquakes, or other force majeure situations might affect our tour destinations before we travel. So we have some guidelines to help you understand how we handle these types of situations. We appreciate your understanding.
Force Majeure
If we need to cancel the trip more than 30 days before travel we can offer you a 100% refund, or a spot on a similarly priced trip of your choice.
If we need to cancel the trip within 30 days of the tour start date, we can offer you a spot on a similarly priced trip of your choice.
The only country’s travel bans we consider in making force majeure decisions is Mexico.
Low Participation
If less than 5 people have signed up for a trip we will offer you a 100% refund, or a spot on a similarly priced trip of your choice. If necessary, this decision will be announced 30 days prior to the travel date.

Each trip we have a kick off dinner so we can get to know everyone. On the last or night before the trip is over we have another special evening on us.
Once you get to our rally point at our hotel, we take care of accomodations and travel, we can help you sort out travel, but it's up to you to pay your own way.
During the day we'll stop for lunch, drinks, etc. Many times we may go out to dinner together, or you can venture out on your own. Nothing is mandatory.
Just like if you rent a car, you'll buy your own gas. The price can vary depending on the trip, but figure $10 to $15/day USD.
Sometimes parks or hot springs charge an entry fee.
We can't account for how you may wish to spend money on your trip, but for lunch, dinner, gas, tolls, etc., we usually recommend you bring an addtional $75 USD per day for a very comfortable trip.
YOU ARRIVED! Now that you're in Mexico, you'll make your way up to our hotel across the road from the Pyramids of the Sun, Moon, and Serpent at Teotihuacan. Depending on what time you get in that day, we'll take a tour of the pyramids along the Calzada de los Muertos, or as it's known in English, the Avenue of the Dead.
We have a special night to kick off this trip at our hotel. I hope you're not too excited to get some sleep.
After breakfast you'll get to meet your bikes for the week and load up the chase van for our first ride. Today we'll head out Northwest to the countryside of Hidalgo State. Our destination for the day is a little town called Tecozautla. There's a steam vent hot springs spot we'll take in before having dinner al fresco. The night sky won't dissapoint.
Every day we'll spend some time at breakfast having a safety talk, discuss riding styles and tips before we take off for the day.
The secret to this trip is that it's two in one. For the next couple days we'll be riding the Tail of the Serpent tour route! The road up to Jalpan is one of the most celebrated twisty roads in Mexcio. If you've heard of The Tail of the Dragon in the US, you're about to meet its Mexican primo.
After a night in Jalpan we'll start up into San Luis Potosi State to Tamazunchale. Along the way we have some sightseeing to do. After a night in Jalpan we'll ride into San Luis Potosi State to Tamazunchale. Along the way we have some sightseeing to do. We'll stop by an artist installation of modern architecture and gardens set in the middle of nowhere called the Las Pozas garden in Xilitla. It's safe to say this ride will blow your mind. KAPOW!!!
Don't hate the player... we believe in having fun and staying in great places. After a day of incredible curvy mountain riding we're staying in the Royal Hotel and Spa; yes it does feel a little like movie set. This destination is on Mexico's version of Route 66, and in it's hay-day this was the place to be and be seen. It's safe to say that everywhere we go is gonna blow your mind, but this night, c'mon. It's important to add that we stop along the way for lunch, drinks, and side adventures. There's always something of awe that will surprise us and it pays to take our time to enjoy the little things.
Today is a short ride to one of my favorite places in the world, let alone Mexico. Grutas Tolantango is a natural hot spring cave with 120 degree water pouring out of the ceiling. It tempers with a cascading cold spring waterfall, like something out of a fantasy. This is the real payoff for the trip. Riding in and out of this spot is like nothing you've ever seen, and it has such an amazing spot to hangout, have a campfire by the river, and chillout before we head back to the city.
On our final day we'll head back into Mexico City and will conclude our trip in the Condessa neighborhood on the Parque Mexico. This boutique hotel is my home away from home: blue like Frida's house and set across the street from my favorite city park. If you'd rather not ride into the largest city in North America, we have a spot set up to leave your bikes and ride in the chase van to the hotel. For those intrepid riders, we'll split lanes and high five at intersections on our way back. This ends your trip, but we can help you finish with a bang by going to see a lucha libre match, eat at a world class restaurant, or we can provide some tips for wandering around and enjoying this amazing city. We bet that you will already start planning your next Mexico by Moto trip.
