The Day of the Dead known in Spanish as Dia de Los Muertos, is the distinctive Mexican tradition where the entire country is dressed up in sugar skulls, skeletons, marigold flowers and colorful parties. This weeklong motorcycle trip will allow us to pay respects to the family and friends that have died. Every big city and pueblo in Mexico will have a celebration during the last days of October but it culminates on November 1 and 2. The Day of the Dead Motorcycle trip will start in Mexico City and take us to one of the most colorful and auspicious destinations. Come with us as we become more than observers but participate in this special piece of Mexican heritage.

If You Need To Cancel
Mexico by Moto understands that plans change and circumstances don’t always work out for you to take a vacation when you wish, especially when we’re planning months or even a year into the future. We’re also a very lean company that works with smaller family owned hotels, and vendors in Mexico, as such when we put rooms, equipment, or other services on hold and then cancel with them, we often need to pay them, especially if it's very close to the date of travel. Saying all this, we have worked out with them what is fair, and what would be the optimal time to provide you with a 100% refund. We appreciate your understanding.
For the Day of the Dead Tour
If you let us know before September 1st you will receive a 100% refund minus the $500 deposit we initially ask for.
If you cancel between 30 and 60 days of travel it costs 50% of the total price for your trip.
If you cancel within 30 days of travel you will not receive a refund.
All cancellation requests must be in writing via email to info@mexicobymoto.com
If Mexico by Moto Needs to Cancel
Planning for the future includes thinking about weather patterns, and other things that fall into the category of force majeure. We cannot predict if hurricanes, earthquakes, or other force majeure situations might affect our tour destinations before we travel. So we have some guidelines to help you understand how we handle these types of situations. We appreciate your understanding.
Force Majeure
If we need to cancel the trip more than 30 days before travel we can offer you a 100% refund, or a spot on a similarly priced trip of your choice.
If we need to cancel the trip within 30 days of the tour start date, we can offer you a spot on a similarly priced trip of your choice.
The only country’s travel bans we consider in making force majeure decisions is Mexico.
Low Participation
If less than 5 people have signed up for a trip we will offer you a 100% refund, or a spot on a similarly priced trip of your choice. If necessary, this decision will be announced 30 days prior to the travel date.
BMW and Royal Enfield models
Everyone gets a private room, no need to share.
The chase van will carry all your luggage, supplies, as well as tools, etc.
Every trip we'll supply a guide who can provide riding tips and assist with any issue you might have.
Spanish to English interpreter will be on every trip
Each trip we have a kick off dinner so we can get to know everyone. On the last or night before the trip is over we have another special evening on us.
Once you get to our rally point at our hotel, we take care of accomodations and travel, we can help you sort out travel, but it's up to you to pay your own way.
During the day we'll stop for lunch, drinks, etc. Many times we may go out to dinner together, or you can venture out on your own. Nothing is mandatory.
Just like if you rent a car, you'll buy your own gas. The price can vary depending on the trip, but figure $10 to $15/day USD.
Sometimes parks or hot springs charge an entry fee.
We can't account for how you may wish to spend money on your trip, but for lunch, dinner, gas, tolls, etc., we usually recommend you bring an addtional $75 USD per day for a very comfortable trip.
Day One October 30th, 2026
Welcome to Mexico! This trip kicks off in our favorite neighborhood in CDMX, Condessa. If you get in early, drop your bags at the hotel, hang out in the park, visit the nearby museums in Chapultepec Park, have a drink... enjoy yourself. We meet at 7pm for a kickoff dinner to get to know each other and discuss our riding for the week.
Day Two Saturday October 31
After breakfast we'll hit the road and make our way west through the mountains to our first night on the road in Zitácuaro, a beautiful town surrounded by the Sierra Madre Occidental Mountains which are the home of the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuaries in Michoacan.
Day Three Dia de Los Muertos - The Day of the Dead.
Today will be a spectacular ride. Tons of twisty Mountain riding as we make our way out toward Pátzcuaro, Michoacán, the town on the lake where we will stay for the night. But the real destination will be the island in the middle of Lake Pátzcuaro, called Janitzio, the spiritual heart of Mexico. There we will participate in the first night of Dia de Los Muertos. You're gonna make some incredible memories here.
Day Four Monday November 2
We'll spend another day on the shore of Lake Pátzcuaro taking in the culture and love that Mexico is famous for. Spend time in the Zocalo, visit the cemetery filled with Marigold flowers and altars of everyone's family members. Enjoy yourself and take it all in.
Day Five November 3rd
After our immersion into Mexican Culture we're back on the road today and making our way north to San Miguel de Allende. Famous for ex-pats, this town is a wonderful place for us to chill for a night and see yet another magical town that will wow you.
Day Six November 4th
We'll be staying at a family owned hotel across the road from the pyramid complex at Teotihuacan. This hotel has an Aztec ball court, and the last time we were here we all got to play with the kids and family that own the place. If we get in early, you can go across the street and spend some time marveling at the pyramids of the Serpent, Sun, and Moon.
Day Seven November 5th
This morning we have a special event for you - we'll be taking a hot air balloon over the pyramids complex as the sun rises! After we land, and get our gear packed, we'll make one last ride into Mexico City. For our last night we'll stay in the Condessa Neighborhood at my favorite boutique hotel on Parque Mexico. There's so much to do here; dinner, parks, lucha libre matches... let us know what you want to do and we'll make it happen. When you get up Friday morning, your trip will be wrapped up, but you don't need to leave Mexico.
