Our Mezcal tour will give you a glimpse into the Nahuátl tradition of cooking agave to create this once outlawed distilled drink. From the culinary capital of Oaxaca City, your guides will take you on a ride through the mountains and agave fields in the Oaxacan countryside, a couple nights under the stars on the Pacific Coast’s surf capital, and a trip via a road that makes The Tail of the Dragon in the US look like a trip to the grocery store. Our tour van will go everywhere the bikes go and will take us from tastings to our hotel, but also offers a chance for our friends and family that don’t ride a motorcycle to join us. This trip really has it all.

If You Need To Cancel
Mexico by Moto understands that plans change and circumstances don’t always work out for you to take a vacation when you wish, especially when we’re planning months or even a year into the future. We’re also a very lean company that works with smaller family owned hotels, and vendors in Mexico, as such when we put rooms, equipment, or other services on hold and then cancel with them, we often need to pay them, especially if it's very close to the date of travel. Saying all this, we have worked out with them what is fair, and what would be the optimal time to provide you with a 100% refund. We appreciate your understanding.
For our tours that run January through April.
If you cancel before December 1st, we refund 100% minus the $500 initial deposit we ask for.
If you cancel after December 1st, but more than 30 days before you travel it will cost 50% of the total price for your trip.
If you cancel within 30 days of your tour date you will not receive a refund.
All cancellation requests must be in writing via email to info@mexicobymoto.com
If Mexico by Moto Needs to Cancel
Planning for the future includes thinking about weather patterns, and other things that fall into the category of force majeure. So we have some guidelines to help you understand how we handle these types of situations. We appreciate your understanding.

The only country’s travel bans we consider in making force majeure decisions is Mexico.
Low Participation
If less than 5 people have signed up for a trip we will offer you a 100% refund, or a spot on a similarly priced trip of your choice. If necessary, this decision will be announced 30 days prior to the travel date.

Day One Saturday January 9, 2027
Welcome to Oaxaca! Our trip begins in the culinary capital of Mexico, Oaxaca de Juarez. After you get settled into our hotel, you'll have a chance to walk around the Zócalo, and embibe in what Oaxaca is famous for: culture, food, and mezcal. Enjoy the night, then we'll ride out the next morning.
Day Two January 10
After breakfast we'll stow are gear in the chase van, have a safety talk, discuss riding styles, and then head out to our first destination, a mezcal distilery near San Juan del Rio. Safety is always on our mind, so we've set up a spoke and hub rides so we can sample the mezcal on our stops and use our chase van as a tipsy taxi back to the hotels.
Day Three January 11
Oaxaca is a beautiful state, and we've planned some spots for you to enjoy the natural beauty and twisty mountain riding that we've really come to love. On our way to the next distilery, we'll stop by Hieves de Agua, a series of petrified thermal hot pools. Our destination for the night is Banhez Mezcal, a family owned operation that is part hotel, part mezcalaria.
Day Four January 12
Today we'll ride out to the Pacific Ocean beach town Puerto Escondido. This trip has something for everyone. We'll spend a couple nights on the coast soaking up the sun, beach, and night life. I can't describe the sunset, or seeing the whales jumping off the coast while we release baby turtles well enough to give it credit. Trust me, you'll fall for this place. There are several beaches to surf, swim, or just sit under a palapa and have cool drinks. Night life is in abundance here and down at Punta Zicatela the beach vibe goes long into the night. This is a fun spot.
Day 5 Wednesday January 13
It's a short ride down the coast to our next destination, but once we're there you have your choice of several beaches to visit. The beaches along this stretch of the Pacific are like a string of paradises. Take a surf lessons, go for a swim, shop a little, or go for a side quest with our local friends and ride down the coast to one of the many different beaches that will blow your mind. The sunset from the cliffs over the Pacific is, not to be redundant, but it's gonna blow your mind.
Day Six January 14
Today will be an awesome ride. Like The Tail of the Dragon but so much cooler. We'll stop along the mountain and see as far as the ocean. Our destination San Juan del Pacifico is a spiritual center and famous for shamans and seekers coming for ceremonies. We'll stay up in the pines and take in a temazcal ceremony - a spiritual sweat lodge ceremony. Your cabin will be cozy with a fireplace, and this will be a great cleanse before we get back to Oaxaca City.
Our last day out on the road. We'll ride back to Oaxaca de Juarez. We'll turn our bikes in at our hotel and spend one last night together in the market taking in all the fantastic street food near the central market. This isn't survival cooking, it's all art. Did you know there are about 300 different types of Mole? I can't get enough of all the delicious food in Oaxaca. After our food tour, we'll talk about your next Mexico by Moto trip over a smoky Mezcal.
