The two volcanoes visible from Mexico City gave rise to the legend of Popocatépetl (Popo) and Iztaccíhuatl (Izta) and their tragic love story.  Popo is the active volcano and he watches over his sleeping princess Itza. On this trip we’ll ride up to the volcanoes, and spend the night among the trees and legends.  This trip will continue on into an area known as the Atlas Mountains.  Unlike their Moroccan counterpart these mountains are verdant, and stretch across high mountain valleys and into the cane fields out to the coast.  This trip features everything.  Twisty mountain riding, hotsprings, archaeological sites, and we intend to take you places you’ve never heard of.  I hope you join us.

We start our trip in Mexico City neighborhood Condessa where the streets are lined with trees, cafes, and parks are abundant. While here our home away from home is on the Parque Mexico.  So after you drop off your gear, go for walk in one of the dozens of parks and tree lined streets, or go have a drink. We'll meet up for dinner and get to know each other before we head out for a week of amazing riding.

After breakfast we'll pack it up and get ready to hit the road. We'll introduce you to your bikes for the week and head out to Parque Nacional Iztaccíhuatl - Popocatépetl, known as Popo and Itza, the two volcanoes that sit east of Mexico City. If you're not comfortable riding out of the largest city in North America, no problem.  We have a spot to pick up bikes just outside of town - no big deal.  Either way, you'll get some curvy riding in as we head up into the National Park to spend a night in the mountains.  Bundle up! It get cool at night. 

As we make our way down the mountain we'll stop by one of the most amazing Cacaxtla archaeological stie on our way to Puebla for the night. We'll stay downtown Puebla. This is the home of Al Pastor, the famous dish where you cook meet on a spit with an Lebanese immigrant story as it's back ground. I have a favorite spot that will blow your culinary mind.

From Puebla we'll start our ride out into the Atlas Mountain Range between the volcanoes and the coast. Our destination will be the two of Orizaba that sits at the base of an incredible ride. this valley will be our jumping off spot to ride past rail road tunnel bridges, waterfalls, cane fields and the incredible and rarely seens country side of Veracruz and Puebla.

I hope you're ready for an amazing day. We'll spend a few hours riding through the mountians on our way to Cascada de Atoyac, then continue on to our home for the night near a thermal hot spring.  Enjoy it. Tomorrow we will climb out into the high valley. 

As we drive to Puebla we'll see an endless number of volcanic vents. Mountains and blue sky will surround us on this fast ride back to the tree lined streets and parks of Puebla. It's unlike anything we've seen so far on this trip and is magical.  

After breakfast we'll start our ride back into the Mexico City.  Again, you have the option to drop your bike off before we get into the city, or you can ride iback to our favorite neighborhood.  The best part is you get to choose what you want to do, we're here to make it happen.  Over dinner we can start to plan your next trip with Mexico by Moto.
